The Global Conversation Mini Lecture 10 – Spring 2011

by James Skelly on March 28, 2011

Mini-Lecture #10 has just been posted.  In it I ask you to calculate your water usage using the water calculator that you will find at the top of the course home page – you can then post your usage in comparison to the amount the average American uses in the Forum I created below the calculator on the home page.

I also made mention of the article in today’s Observer newspaper about the economist E. F. Schumacher, the author of Small Is Beautiful: A Study of Economics As If People Mattered, who made interesting comments about nuclear power that are very relevant today.

In addition, I also briefly discussed the work of the strategist of non-violent political change, Gene Sharp, which informed the tactics of protesters in Egypt in their successful attempt to depose Hosni Mubarak – you’ll find more about his work at this website and this one.

Have a great week!

Jim
